Dua 1

When leaving the house

Every time you step out

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ

Bismillāh, tawakkaltu ʿala llāh, wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh.

In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no power and no strength except with Allah.

Abū Dāwūd 5095, Tirmidhī 3426.

“You are guided, you are defended, you are protected.” The devil turns away. (Abū Dāwūd 5095)

Dua 2

Protection from all harm ×3

Morning and evening, three times

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

Bismillāhi lladhī lā yaḍurru maʿa smihi shayʾun fi l-arḍi wa lā fi s-samāʾi wa huwa s-Samīʿu l-ʿAlīm.

In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

Abū Dāwūd 5088, Tirmidhī 3388.

Whoever says this three times morning and evening, nothing will harm him.

Dua 3

Seeking refuge in Allah's perfect words

When stopping at any place (travelling, hotel, new location)

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

Aʿūdhu bi-kalimāti llāhi t-tāmmāti min sharri mā khalaq.

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.

Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2708.

Whoever stops at a place and says this, nothing will harm him until he departs.

Dua 4

Protecting children from harm

Recite over your children

أُعِيذُكُمَا بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ

Uʿīdhukumā bi-kalimāti llāhi t-tāmmati min kulli shayṭānin wa hāmmah, wa min kulli ʿaynin lāmmah.

I seek refuge for you both in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and venomous creature, and from every evil eye.

Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 3371.

Ibrāhīm ﷺ used to seek protection for Ismāʿīl and Isḥāq with these words, and the Prophet ﷺ used to recite them over al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn.

Dua 5

Āyat al-Kursī

Before sleeping, morning, evening, after prayer

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ ۚ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ ۚ لَّهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۗ مَن ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِندَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ ۚ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلَّا بِمَا شَاءَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۖ وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ

Allāhu lā ilāha illā huwa l-Ḥayyu l-Qayyūm. Lā taʾkhudhuhu sinatun wa lā nawm. Lahu mā fi s-samāwāti wa mā fi l-arḍ. Man dha lladhī yashfaʿu ʿindahu illā bi-idhnih. Yaʿlamu mā bayna aydīhim wa mā khalfahum. Wa lā yuḥīṭūna bi-shayʾin min ʿilmihi illā bi-mā shāʾ. Wasiʿa kursiyyuhu s-samāwāti wa l-arḍ. Wa lā yaʾūduhu ḥifẓuhumā. Wa huwa l-ʿAliyyu l-ʿAẓīm.

Allah — there is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation does not tire Him. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

Quran 2:255.

If you recite it when you go to bed, a guardian from Allah will protect you all night, and no devil will come near you until morning.

Dua 6

Al-Muʿawwidhāt (the protective surahs)

Morning and evening, three times each

Sūrat al-Ikhlāṣ

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ۝ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ۝ اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ ۝ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ ۝ وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ

Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Qul huwa llāhu Aḥad. Allāhu ṣ-Ṣamad. Lam yalid wa lam yūlad. Wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan aḥad.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Say: He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born. And there is none comparable to Him.

Sūrat al-Falaq

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ۝ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ ۝ مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ ۝ وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ ۝ وَمِن شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ ۝ وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ

Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Qul aʿūdhu bi-Rabbi l-falaq. Min sharri mā khalaq. Wa min sharri ghāsiqin idhā waqab. Wa min sharri n-naffāthāti fi l-ʿuqad. Wa min sharri ḥāsidin idhā ḥasad.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak. From the evil of that which He created. And from the evil of darkness when it settles. And from the evil of those who blow on knots. And from the evil of an envier when he envies.

Sūrat an-Nās

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ۝ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ ۝ مَلِكِ النَّاسِ ۝ إِلَٰهِ النَّاسِ ۝ مِن شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ ۝ الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ ۝ مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ

Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Qul aʿūdhu bi-Rabbi n-nās. Maliki n-nās. Ilāhi n-nās. Min sharri l-waswāsi l-khannās. Alladhī yuwaswisu fī ṣudūri n-nās. Mina l-jinnati wa n-nās.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind. The King of mankind. The God of mankind. From the evil of the retreating whisperer. Who whispers in the breasts of mankind. From among the jinn and mankind.

Abū Dāwūd 5082, Tirmidhī 3575.

“Recite Qul Huwa Allāhu Aḥad and the Muʿawwidhatayn three times when you reach the morning and the evening — they will suffice you against everything.” (Abū Dāwūd 5082)

Dua 7

Protection from every direction

Morning

اللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْنِي مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيَّ، وَمِنْ خَلْفِي، وَعَنْ يَمِينِي، وَعَنْ شِمَالِي، وَمِنْ فَوْقِي، وَأَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَتِكَ أَنْ أُغْتَالَ مِنْ تَحْتِي

Allāhumma ḥfaẓnī min bayni yadayy, wa min khalfī, wa ʿan yamīnī, wa ʿan shimālī, wa min fawqī, wa aʿūdhu bi-ʿaẓamatika an ughtāla min taḥtī.

O Allah, protect me from in front of me and from behind me, from my right and from my left, and from above me. And I seek refuge in Your Greatness from being taken unawares from beneath me.

Abū Dāwūd 5074.

Dua 8

Seeking refuge from the evil eye

When fearing the evil eye on yourself or others

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ

Aʿūdhu bi-kalimāti llāhi t-tāmmati min kulli shayṭānin wa hāmmah, wa min kulli ʿaynin lāmmah.

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and venomous creature, and from every evil eye.

Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 3371.

The evil eye (ʿayn) is real — the Prophet ﷺ said: “The evil eye is true.”

Dua 9

Ruqyah (spiritual healing recitation)

When ill, afflicted, or seeking protection

The Sunnah method of ruqyah:

Recite Sūrat al-Fātiḥah — seven times
Recite Āyat al-Kursī — once
Recite Sūrat al-Ikhlāṣ, al-Falaq, and an-Nās — three times each
Blow gently into your palms and wipe over your body, starting with the head and face

Sūrat al-Fātiḥah

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ۝ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ۝ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ۝ مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ ۝ إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ ۝ اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ ۝ صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ

Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Al-ḥamdu lillāhi Rabbi l-ʿālamīn. Ar-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Māliki yawmi d-dīn. Iyyāka naʿbudu wa iyyāka nastaʿīn. Ihdinā ṣ-ṣirāṭa l-mustaqīm. Ṣirāṭa lladhīna anʿamta ʿalayhim, ghayri l-maghḍūbi ʿalayhim wa la ḍ-ḍāllīn.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is for Allah, Lord of all the worlds. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgement. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us to the straight path. The path of those You have blessed — not of those who have earned Your anger, nor of those who have gone astray.

Āyat al-Kursī

Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Qul aʿūdhu bi-Rabbi n-nās. Maliki n-nās. Ilāhi n-nās. Min sharri l-waswāsi l-khannās. Alladhī yuwaswisu fī ṣudūri n-nās. Mina l-jinnati wa n-nās.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind. The King of mankind. The God of mankind. From the evil of the retreating whisperer. Who whispers in the breasts of mankind. From among the jinn and mankind.

Finally: blow gently into your cupped palms and wipe them over your body, beginning with the head and face. Repeat the wiping as often as you wish.

Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5007, Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5017.

Ruqyah is the Sunnah method of spiritual healing. It uses only Quran and authentic supplications — no amulets, no intermediaries.

Dua 10

When entering the home

Every time you enter your house

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَلَجْنَا، وَبِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَرَجْنَا، وَعَلَى رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا

Bismillāhi walajnā, wa bismillāhi kharajnā, wa ʿalā Rabbinā tawakkalnā.

In the name of Allah we enter, in the name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord we place our trust.

Abū Dāwūd 5096.

When you enter your home saying Bismillāh and mention Allah's name before eating, Shayṭān says: “You have no place to sleep and no dinner here.” (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2018)

Dua 11

Seeking refuge from Shayṭān

When feeling waswasah, before reciting Quran, or when angry

أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ

Aʿūdhu billāhi mina sh-Shayṭāni r-rajīm.

I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shayṭān.

Quran 16:98.

The Prophet ﷺ told an angry man: “I know a word which, if he were to say it, his anger would go away.” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6115)

Dua 12

Sufficiency in Allah ×7

Morning and evening

حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ

Ḥasbiya llāhu lā ilāha illā huwa, ʿalayhi tawakkaltu wa huwa Rabbu l-ʿArshi l-ʿAẓīm.

Allah is sufficient for me. There is no god but He. In Him I place my trust, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.

Abū Dāwūd 5081, Quran 9:129.

Whoever says this seven times morning and evening, Allah will suffice him in whatever concerns him.
