Allah taught us how to call upon Him — through the very words He revealed. These are the duas embedded in the Quran itself: the prayers of Prophets, the cries of the faithful, and the words Allah chose for us to recite.
Why Quranic duas are special: When you recite a dua from the Quran, you are making dua with Allah's own words. You earn the reward of reciting Quran AND the reward of making supplication — simultaneously. Some of these duas also appear on other pages under specific categories. They are gathered here as a single collection of the Quran's most powerful prayers.
Rabbi hab lī ḥukman wa alḥiqnī bi-ṣ-ṣāliḥīn. Wajʿal lī lisāna ṣidqin fi l-ākhirīn. Wajʿalnī min warathati jannati n-naʿīm.
My Lord, grant me wisdom and join me with the righteous. Grant me a reputation of honour among later generations. And make me among the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss.
Rabbanā ghfir lanā wa li-ikhwānina lladhīna sabaqūnā bi-l-īmāni wa lā tajʿal fī qulūbinā ghillan li-lladhīna āmanū, Rabbanā innaka Raʾūfun Raḥīm.
Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith, and put not in our hearts any resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful.

Dua 10
Complete our light and forgive us
On the Day of Judgement — and now, in anticipation
Rabbanā lā tuʾākhidhnā in nasīnā aw akhṭaʾnā. Rabbanā wa lā taḥmil ʿalaynā iṣran kamā ḥamaltahu ʿala lladhīna min qablinā. Rabbanā wa lā tuḥammilnā mā lā ṭāqata lanā bih. Waʿfu ʿannā, waghfir lanā, warḥamnā. Anta mawlānā fanṣurnā ʿala l-qawmi l-kāfirīn.
Our Lord, do not take us to account if we forget or make mistakes. Our Lord, do not lay upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, do not burden us with that which we have no ability to bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy upon us. You are our Protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.
Rabbi qad ātaytanī mina l-mulki wa ʿallamtanī min taʾwīli l-aḥādīth. Fāṭira s-samāwāti wa l-arḍi anta waliyyī fi d-dunyā wa l-ākhirah. Tawaffanī Musliman wa alḥiqnī bi-ṣ-ṣāliḥīn.
My Lord, You have given me authority and taught me the interpretation of dreams. Creator of the heavens and the earth, You are my Protector in this world and the Hereafter. Cause me to die as a Muslim and join me with the righteous.
Quran 12:101.
Yūsuf ﷺ was thrown into a well by his brothers, sold as a slave, falsely imprisoned for years, then elevated to become the most powerful minister in Egypt. After reuniting with his family, he made this dua — not asking for more power or wealth, but to die as a Muslim and be joined with the righteous. His entire life was proof that Allah's plan, even through unimaginable hardship, leads to the best outcome.
Dua 28
Dua upon reaching forty — gratitude and righteous offspring
From the age of forty onwards — when maturity brings reflection on blessings, parents, and legacy
Rabbi awziʿnī an ashkura niʿmataka llatī anʿamta ʿalayya wa ʿalā wālidayya wa an aʿmala ṣāliḥan tarḍāhu wa aṣliḥ lī fī dhurriyyatī, innī tubtu ilayka wa innī mina l-Muslimīn.
My Lord, inspire me to be grateful for Your favour which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and to do righteous deeds that please You, and rectify for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed I am of the Muslims.
Quran 46:15.
This verse comes in the context of honouring parents and reaching the age of full maturity (forty). It is the Quran's dua for the second half of life — when priorities shift from ambition to legacy, from accumulation to contribution. It asks for gratitude, righteous deeds, good offspring, and repentance. It resembles Sulaymān's dua (27:19) on the Gratitude page, but adds "rectify for me my offspring" and "I have repented to You" — making it specifically about the mature believer's concerns.
Dua 29
Āsiyah's dua — build me a house near You in Paradise
When oppressed, when trapped in a difficult situation, when longing for the Hereafter over worldly comfort
Rabbi bni lī ʿindaka baytan fi l-jannati wa najjinī min Firʿawna wa ʿamalihī wa najjinī mina l-qawmi ẓ-ẓālimīn.
My Lord, build for me near You a house in Paradise, and save me from Pharaoh and his deeds, and save me from the wrongdoing people.
Quran 66:11.
Āsiyah was married to Pharaoh — the most powerful and most tyrannical man on earth. She believed in Mūsā's message despite the danger, and when Pharaoh discovered her faith, he tortured her. As she was being killed, she made this dua. She asked for a house "near You" (ʿindaka) — not just in Paradise, but close to Allah Himself — choosing the Hereafter over the greatest palace on earth. The Prophet ﷺ named her among the four greatest women of all time.
Dua 30
The dua of Maryam's mother — protecting her child from Shayṭān
During pregnancy, after birth, when making dua for your children's protection and righteousness
Rabbi innī waḍaʿtuhā unthā wa llāhu aʿlamu bimā waḍaʿat wa laysa dh-dhakaru ka-l-unthā, wa innī sammaytuhā Maryama wa innī uʿīdhuhā bika wa dhurriyyatahā mina sh-Shayṭāni r-rajīm.
My Lord, I have delivered a female — and Allah is most knowing of what she delivered, and the male is not like the female — and I have named her Maryam, and I seek refuge for her in You and for her offspring from Shayṭān the accursed.
Quran 3:36.
The wife of ʿImrān had vowed to dedicate her child to the service of Allah, expecting a son. When she gave birth to a daughter, she placed her trust in Allah and sought protection for Maryam and her descendants from Shayṭān. Allah answered so completely that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Every child born is touched by Shayṭān at birth, except Maryam and her son ʿĪsā." (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 3431) This is the strongest evidence that a parent's dua of protection over their children is answered: Maryam grew up to become the greatest woman in Islamic history, and ʿĪsā one of the mightiest Prophets — all beginning with this mother's sincere plea.
Calling Upon Allah by His Beautiful Names. "And to Allah belong the Most Beautiful Names, so call upon Him by them." (Quran 7:180). Invoking Allah by a Name that relates to your need is one of the most powerful forms of dua — when ill, call upon Yā Shāfī; when in need, call upon Yā Razzāq; when lost, call upon Yā Hādī. These ten Names are among the most commonly invoked in supplication.

The absolutely unique, without equal or rival.

When to invoke: When seeking sincerity in tawḥīd, when the world pulls you in many directions and you need to return to the One.

O Eternal Refuge
